The Realm of the Sun King

Better Living Through Benevolent Monarchy

LeRoi Soleil I
17 November
I'm my own monarch: LeRoi Soleil I, Sovereign of the Realm, Defeater of the Slumlord, Master of the Improv, Folder of the 500 Napkins, Defender of the Royal Tribe, Daddy to Lord Booberon, and Alpha of Self.

I'm an application designer by day, a groundskeeper in the evening, an actor by night, and an idealist by the grace of God. My goal in life is to find that pesky bastard they call balance. My muses are by and large: Man of La Mancha and the whole story of Don Quixote; Inherit the Wind (both the play AND the film) as well as the trial of John T. Scopes, upon which both are based; bizarre and intelligent comedy (Monty Python, The Simpsons, Blackadder, etc); silly stupid comedy (the "Ernest" movies, "Mom and Dad Save the World," anything with Brak in it); and, I guess, comedy in general.

For a very long time, I have been obsessed with being the Don Quixote for the 21st century - but have striven to do so in the early 17th Century style in which he was created by Miguel de Cervantes-Saavedra. May, 2004, marks the transition to reality I have desperately needed for so long. To quote one of my favorite films: "It's a new Thurgood Jenkins today!"

June 2005: The quest continues in a new and exciting direction. Welcome back some old friends, Hello to some new ones. Enemies become allies, balance comes into focus, and the unified monarch marches forward. Ding-dong, the squirrel is dead. Hail to the King, baby!

June Aught Six: Two of the three critical elements are in place - all that remains is to find the keystone and follow the path.

September Aught Six: Well, that didn't take as long as I imagined it would.

September Aught Seventeen: It's like the third book in that series by that guy...
